Sending information to a group on the iPad
Sometimes you want to send an email , attach a document or photo to a group of people and you don't want to send that message to one person at a time. This is similar to using a mailing list or distribution list.
On the iPad, in the Contacts app, you can see your groups but you can't add individual contacts to the group or setup a group. This needs to be done in iCloud on a computer. You can setup a group and add individual contacts to it.
If you have Contacts turned ON in iCloud on your iPad, any groups or contacts you setup, edit or amend in iCloud will be synchronised to the Contacts App in your iPad within seconds.
You can setup a group in iCloud, and you can select that group whenever there is an email Send To... function in an app. For example, in the Photos app, select a photo, tap the Sharing button, select your group from the Contacts. The difficulty here is that you cannot send anything to the whole group at once. You have to add each member of the group individually.
An iPad app called Mailshot does group email. There is a free version. The constraints are that you can only have 3 groups with 5 contacts in each group. There is a paid version at $4.49. It is available from the App Store.
